After 2 Drone Searches, Still No Sign Of Missing Mokena Man: Police
Robert Hollingsworth, 28, is believed to be endangered and has not been since since 2 a.m. Wednesday since he fled a car crash in Manhattan.
MANHATTAN, IL — A Mokena man believed to be endangered remains missing after two drone searches around the area where the man crashed his car and fled in Manhattan failed to turn anything up, police said on Friday.
Robert Hollingsworth, 28, was last seen around 2 a.m. on Wednesday near the scene of the crash on Route 52 and North Street, police said. Hollingsworth might have been injured in the crash, police and family have said. The car involved left the roadway, striking a tree and a building, according to Interim Chief of Police Brian Zarnowski.
On Friday, Mokena Police Chief Brian Benton told Patch that authorities have conducted two drone searches, including one on Thursday in conjunction with Manhattan Police. Both searches were conducted near the scene of the crash, but did not turn anything up, Benton said.
“As of now, he is still missing and we will continue to locate (him),” Benton wrote in an email on Friday.
Hollingsworth’s mother is concerned for Hollingsworth's mental health, saying he could be having suicidal ideations, mother Katie Hollingsworth told Patch previously. Hollingsworth planned a search for her son on Thursday afternoon but told Patch on Friday morning that there was nothing new to report in her son’s disappearance.
Robert Hollingsworth had been at a friend's house in Bourbonnais earlier in the evening when his mother believes he suffered a manic episode indicative of BiPolar II Disorder, Katie Hollingsworth said.
Hollingsworth last heard from her son around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, when he sent her a text message indicating he intended to harm himself, she said. His phone and wallet were left in the car, she said. Hollingsworth said he could have headed to Joliet, but she is not certain.
