The disappearances of several African-American young women in Chicago sparked panic, protest and pain over the summer. Fifteen-year-old Sadaria Davis and 26-year-old Shantieya Smith were found dead. Reports prompted questions about whether all of the young women’s disappearances were related but police never confirmed that speculation. Authorities did ask for the community’s help with the cases.

Deaths of woman, teen girl ruled homicides, possibly connected to suspect in other attacks

Authorities investigating the homicides earlier this year of a woman and a 15-year-old girl in Chicago want to question a man being held in Cook County Jail on charges related to attacks on two others.

Shantieya Smith, 26, and Sadaria Davis, 15, were found dead on the West Side earlier this year — Davis in May and Smith in June. The cause and manner of death for both were initially undetermined by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, pending results of toxicology tests and further examination.

One year later, family still seeking answers in Shantieya Smith’s murder

CHICAGO — One year has passed since the body of Shantieya Smith was found inside an abandoned garage. Her family is still seeking answers.

Relatives and friends of Smith held a vigil in the alley Friday outside the abandoned garage where her body was found one year ago.

Smith was 26-years-old when she went missing in May of 2018. Her body was found weeks later in a garage not far from her home.

Police said they believe the case is connected to the murder of 15-year-old Sadaria Davis.

The medical examiner’s office ruled both deaths “homicide by unspecified means.”

Chicago police identified Charlie Booker as someone they wanted to question. He is now in Cook County jail charged with attacking other women.

But no there have been no charges filed in the deaths of Smith and Davis.

Smith’s mother said the last update she received from detectives is that were still waiting to DNA test results.

I hope they find a match with the DNA and that the person(s) responsible for the deaths of Smith and Davis is/are brought to justice that no other women/girls have to suffer at his hands.

Threatening Text Sent to Mother Whose Daughter Was Murdered

Latonya Moore says her 26-year-old daughter Shantieya Smith left home with Charlie Booker May 25 but never returned. Her body was later discovered June 7 in a Lawndale garage.

“I actually believe he killed my daughter,” Moore said, adding that she when her daughter didn’t come home she begged Booker in a text to let her know if her daughter was OK. It was when she told Booker she was going to the police, that Booker sent her several threatening texts.

“Enjoy yo time and days becuz they will be cut short. Your days r on a countdown so enjoy ur time and days.” Moore says 24-year-old Booker taunted her sending more texts including “make sure you save all these message so somebody can give it to police.”

Sadaria Davis was also last seen with Charlie Booker on April 27



Deaths of woman, teen girl ruled homicides, possibly connected to suspect in other attacks

The Chicago man, Charlie L. Booker, is facing attempted murder and assault charges in Cook County after police said he stabbed and critically injured a woman July 15 in the 4500 block of West Harrison Street in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

Booker is also wanted in Memphis, Tenn., in connection with the sexual assault and shooting of a woman days later on July 18, authorities said.


It sounds like he is a bad guy!! Out on parol, 4 women he was connected with attacked. Police were warned when the first girl was murdered, they ignored the mom and 3 more women were attacked.
