Susan Sciacca was found dead from over 100 stab wounds blunt trauma to the head in the mobile home she shared with her husband Danny Sciacca. She was known well in the area as she worked at the local tavern. Her sister Debbie Palermo was in town to visit Susan that day. The two had planned to spend the day visiting with each other and possibly going to the zoo. But Susan never arrived to pick up her sister. Palermo initially thought her sister had changed her mind and was spending time with her husband at the Beacon Tavern, 13300 S. Brandon Ave., where she worked and spent much of her personal time. Palermo became suspicious when she heard from her niece, and Susan's daughter, Amanda, who had been trying to find her mother and contacted Danny. Danny left the tavern and went to their mobile home about 5:10 p.m., where he reportedly found her body and called police.
The case is still open to this day with no leads. Not much information can be found online due to the timing of the case and since this is a very small neighborhood straddling the border of IL and NWI (not many people in Chicago even know about the area.) I found most of my information at the following:
