There is so much missing here....I will find MSM articles in a bit. It was a robbery over marijuana and cash. They found both cars at Scott's apartment complex, which is not on campus. Vicente knew Gonzalez. The police have been piecing all of this together before the body was even found based on cell phone records. The handgun was recovered at a pawn shop this morning. There has been so much on the news today...it's nuts!

URBANA — University of Illinois student Vicente Mundo was fatally shot in the head as he attempted to escape a car where two Champaign men wanted to rob him of cash and three bags of cannabis.

State’s Attorney Julia Rietz said Reginald James Scott, 21, of the 1000 block of Francis Drive, allegedly fired the shot that killed the 20-year-old, as Daniel Gonzalez, 21, of the first block of East John Street, was behind the wheel of his own car.

The shooting happened the evening of Jan. 25 in the parking garage of Mr. Mundo’s apartment complex in the 300 block of East Chalmers Street, Champaign...

The police work seems topnotch in this case imo.
They're being very thorough.

I didn't know the gun was recovered from a pawn shop or that VM was shot while running trying to escape from the perps (car).

I'm sorry...I didn't see the article I posted in here or the photos. I also posted a few things that weren't quite right and I was trying to correct them. Just trying to be helpful, like everyone else. Sorry for posting useless info...I won't post anything else.

Don't worry about it. Virtually everyone posts duplicate information one time or another.

This doesn't even look like Reggie. He is actually from VA. My daughter went to school with him... he stayed here at my house for a week about a year/year and half ago when he was having issues with his Mom. My daughter just told me that he mentioned to her once about doing something like this but beating the person with something not using a gun. She didn't think he was serious. :scared:

I'm so sorry. Both of us must have misunderstood one another.
When I read your first post, (which is why I put 'thinking guy'), it sounded as if you were saying no one had posted any relevant information on the thread.
Then you posted a link in your next post (not the one I responded to).
Since I, and others, had been posting links all along, I didn't understand the nature of your comment.
For instance, several links had been provided already featuring pictures/mugs of the suspects.
Therefore, your post (to me) sounded like my post (to you), critical.

Please, regardless, don't let me (or anybody else) stop you from posting.
One awkward comment doesn't indicate you're not appreciated.
Sorry if I hurt your feelings. Intention doesn't always transfer well via posts.

Oh, yes, especially me! My comment wasn't aimed at duplicate posting.
It was pointing out a lot of info HAD already been linked (but we have to read the articles linked).
So many new facts were reported today so there was a lot more info to add to the case thread.
In other words, each post builds the case (or may repeat partial or all known info).

Here's an update where the reporter tells the circumstances in story form.
It is sickening and a chilling tale.
Good thing these two cold blooded murderers are dumb as rocks.

Since Mundo knew Gonzalez for "a couple of years", Mundo had no reason to fear him and let down his guard imo.

Clearly these two need to be off the streets permanently.
Human life means nothing to either of them imo.

IMO, these two duds not only planned to rob Vicente of cash and drugs, they planned to murder him, too. If you commit a crime against someone who knows you, that victim will report it, so it seems to me that they knew they would kill their victim even before they robbed him. They don't deserve another single day of freedom for the rest of their lives.

38 years in prison for second man in murder of Mundo

http://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/2016-06-06/38-years-prison-second-man-murder-mundo.html

A 22-year-old man from Cicero who admitted he took part in the fatal shooting of a University of Illinois student in a drug deal gone awry was sentenced Monday to 38 years in prison.

Daniel Gonzalez, who formerly lived in the 0-100 block of East John Street, Champaign, pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Vicente Mundo, admitting that he was accountable for the actions of the man who actually fired the gun.
