Wesley Jay Shaver was dropped off by his mother in the 3200 block of 11th Street, Rockford, Illinois on September 22, 2020 at approximately 11:30 A.M.

Wesley advised his mother he was meeting an acquaintance for purposes of work and has not been seen nor heard from since.

Police say Shaver was last known to be wearing an olive green hooded sweatshirt, gray/blue basketball shorts and white shoes.

Shaver has no phone and no form of transportation, according to police.

Anyone with information regarding his location is asked to contact the Mendota Police Department at (815) 539-9331.

Why no phone? Who doesn't have a phone these days, especially if they are seeking employment? I sure hope he is ok.

3200 block has several businesses that I would think would have cameras - wonder if police have checked for any footage (Dunkin Donuts 3225 11th St, McDonalds, Subway, Pizza Hut, Opsahls Pizza and Bar, US Bank 3210 11th St, half block further south is a Walgreens)

The area can get sketchy at night, but mostly during the day, nothing out of the ordinary for any large city. I drive on 11th St often, so I'll be keeping an eye out

Saw that too but it there was a nolle prosequi order - basically, dismissed. I've checked Boone, Ogle, Stephenson, Lee, Bureau, and DeKalb counties for him, and he hasn't been picked up. I'd imagine he'd call someone if he was, but thought I'd check anyways. There are just a couple fliers hung up locally, but they are in high traffic areas. I've asked the places that don't have them hung up and have mostly received the "our policy doesn't allow for that"

It reports that his body was found in woodland and the death does not appear to be suspicious.

So, what then? Suicide?

Body found near Auburn Street identified as missing LaSalle County man

On Saturday, officers were called to a wooded area behind Wong Wong and Tacos El Toro in the 3600 block of Auburn Streeet in Rockford, where they found what appeared to be a deceased adult male who they say had been there for some time.

23 News spoke with Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz who confirms the identify of the missing man says an autospy is pending further studies and other tests which will come back in approximately 4 weeks.

Sincere condolences to his family.

I don't think it necessarily means anything if LE says at first that it doesn't appear suspicious. I hope his family will get answers about whatever happened.
