IL - Wilma Melchert, 86, daughter in-law, nurse, Amy Melchert, 47, charged with murder

WOOD RIVER, Ill. –A registered nurse has been charged with murder for the intentional overdose of her mother-in-law.

The Madison County State's Attorney's Office says 86-year-old Wilma Melchert of Gillespie was released from a hospital on June 12 and was murdered hours later. And it was not a mercy killing.

People can actually last awhile in hospice. My husband does recertifications all of the time for people who still need the services but have not yet passed. So maybe MIL was doing pretty well after being discharged from the hospital but still needed lots of care from the DIL. Caregiver fatigue or maybe she couldn't wait for a payout or who knows.

And kind of o/t but Amy is a pretty rough-looking for 47 years old.
