Xianhui Su is not listed in Namus but I can't find an article that indicates he's been found. Is that normal?

I am pretty sure a missing person is only in NamUs if law enforcement goes through the process to put them in. (Right?)

Thanks for posting this! Do we know more about “a condition that places him in danger”? I have only heard that for older missing people who have dementia or diabetes, but wondering if that could also point to someone having suicidal ideation or not having the mental/physical strength to deal with a human threat.

Understood if the family doesn’t want to release more, but just curious if it’s actually a euphemism I’m supposed to know.

Butterfield and Finley is very near Midwestern University Multispecialty Clinic. My first thoughts when seeing this thread was to wonder if he was teaching at MU. The students here are 3rd and 4th year graduate students.

Oakton is a little east of the clinic, maybe a 5 minute drive.

The area Xinhua was last seen and the area Jake C was last seen may appear close, but it is a very heavy traffic corridor. Two malls, tons of restaurants. Access to three tollways. Butterfield merges into 22nd/Cermak and is far less busy east of where it merges with 22nd. With traffic and lights it's probably a bit longer than 10 min.

There is a silver alert for Xianhui. I hope he is ok.

Eta link.

Alzheimer's Association Silver Search
I am confused on the silver search. I know he is listed there as endangered, but I don't know that it is a silver search.

I have found that he did graduate from Indiana University School of Medecine in 2006. This may be why he is believed to be en route to California.
He is listed on page 102 here. The picture seems to match, but I believe they claim a copyright so I won't attach pic, but add the link. Indiana University School of Medicine Yearbook, 2006 :: IU School of Medicine Yearbooks

Xianhui Su. MP Location: University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California Hometown: West Lafayette, Indiana Undergraduate Institution/Degree: B.S., Computer & Electrical Engineering, Purdue University, 1997

I’m also a little confused on the Silver Alert. Although some materials suggest you qualify for one in Illinois if you’re 21 years-of-age or older and believed to have Alzheimer’s disease, other related dementia, or other dementia-like cognitive impairment. In some other U.S. states, you have to be 65+ years old.

I guess i am trying to say that I am not sure this really is a silver alert. I think that Alzheimer site just lists endangered missing as well. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen another mention of "silver alert", just endangered.

Missing Ill. man believed to be in danger
LOMBARD, Ill. (KFVS) - Illinois State Police issued an Endangered Missing Person Advisory for a 44-year-old man.

---------
Ok, so I was super curious to learn. Here seems to be the law. I copied the definition of what qualifies for an Endangered Missing Person.
Illinois General Assembly - Full Text of Public Act 096-0149

Definition. "High-risk missing person" means a
person whose whereabouts are not currently known and whose
circumstances indicate that the person may be at risk of
injury or death. The circumstances that indicate that a
person is a high-risk missing person include, but are not
limited to, any of the following:
(A) the person is missing as a result of a stranger
abduction;
(B) the person is missing under suspicious
circumstances;
(C) the person is missing under unknown
circumstances;
(D) the person is missing under known dangerous
circumstances;
(E) the person is missing more than 30 days;
(F) the person has already been designated as a
high-risk missing person by another law enforcement
agency;
(G) there is evidence that the person is at risk
because:
(i) the person is in need of medical attention,
including but not limited to persons with
dementia-like symptoms, or prescription
medication;
(ii) the person does not have a pattern of
running away or disappearing;
(iii) the person may have been abducted by a
non-custodial parent;
(iv) the person is mentally impaired;
(v) the person is under the age of 21;
(vi) the person has been the subject of past
threats or acts of violence;
(vii) the person has eloped from a nursing
home; or
(H) any other factor that may, in the judgment of
the law enforcement official, indicate that the
missing person may be at risk.

It does state in the first link, that he has a condition that MAY put him at risk, so that could even be a psychological issue such as schizophrenia etc for which he takes medication daily to control episodes. It can even be Bi-polar disorder which could put him in a manic state if meds are missed. Family or close friends may have noticed. Some of my family members know when I am headed toward a manic state and check my meds. I have fortunately never been hospitalized because of it, but from my Dr, they gave my husband a list of things to watch and what could potentially result. I haven’t had an episode for years, but I function just fine.

Still missing as far as I can tell. No news that he has been located.

Bumping up case. Not sure if he's still missing, though. I can't find him in NamUs.

What stands out to me in the general area is Hidden Lake Forrest Preserve, Morton Arboretum and Lyman Woods Park. They are both wooded and have water features. All of the above would be locations where someone could wander and end up unnoticed in thick brush either by a medical event or misadventure.

The first post mentions that Xianhui Su is a pathologist, and on Vitals, and WebMD there are a pathologist with that name in Lombard, it's most likely that he has been located.
