Important! Please help keep Websleuths going!

Glad you asked. It is spam originating from other parts of the world and has no connection to any cases.
Whenever you see a post or a thread offering something that is way off topic, then it is spam and it needs to be reported. We have had spam threads talking about:
Business School
Airline Travel
Discount Luggage
and everything else.
Do not hesitate to report something you think is spam. We will check, and if you are incorrect, that is just fine. It is no problem. I would rather you report if you are not sure than not report.
Thank you LetsSolveIt

The ones I’ve reported have been in Russian or Chinese and are posted every few minutes. It’s often in the middle of the night here in Oregon (PDT). Thanks insomnia!! 😡 😄

I have used a large screen to look at certain things ,but that is different to seeing something seen by everyone under our names.
On the device I am using I can easily read joined Aug 9 2012 but I cannot read the 12 in the badge.

Edited to add . I am not particularly worried about not seeing the number in the badge ,but would be upset if the date joined was removed and the years badges were used instead.
Same, the badges look smaller than in fraize’s second image above. I don’t mind so much that I need to enlarge them to see the number but they keep catching my eye in a bad way. If the number was made the same size as the numbers below in the Joined and Messages and Reaction score, with a wider border around the number, maybe it will look a lot clearer.

FYI, I’m on an iPad — some numbers are better than others — mostly all readable but resolution seems to vary. Perhaps they are not all hi-rez files (300dpi)? The wings/feathers don’t really show — they are usually washed out. I think for an image that small you can’t use that much detail.

What is bigger problem to my eye are the other badges — the newsletter subscriber, DNA subscriber, etc. At least on an iPad they are totally indistinguishable and tell me nothing. Unless I touch one and the list of badges (say for Fraize) pops up, I have no idea what the little circles mean. I can only see that some are silver and some gold.

Only my two cents! Badges might be more than we need?

Going back to “time on WS” badges, you are either interested in crime or not, or you are in a stage of your life or not when you have time for this. I’m sort of thinking people leaving isn’t out of disloyalty, their lives or interests probably change.

There are rules in the theme / template that set sizes for some components based on your screen-size. I'll take a look.

No worries on my part! I’m here for posting content. Badges are fine but not something that makes or breaks by experience. 😃

Was just sharing what I saw as cf. to others. No need to make changes for me 😁

I'm curious if there's a way that I could donate an annual membership to a deserving member who may not be able to afford such.

??
It's a good idea. I'm thinking about a few ways users can gift subscriptions to each other, either anonymously, randomly, and / or to specific users.

I'd like a way for international members to be able to become a Guardian by paying a fixed amount, either monthly or in a one sum amount maybe for a year at a time.

With a fluctuating dollar, the amount in Australian dollars was $4.68 the other day which I'm happy paying.
It's just not knowing how much I'd be paying each month is a barrier for me right now.

Just replying to this post and I see there were others with the same issue.

I am Canadian, and didn't really want to put it on my credit card either with the exchange and if my cc would want further confirmation or charge more.

I have just signed up and subscribed using an American Express prepaid card that I just happened to have ;) It has worked and when it runs out, I will be able to just add a new card!

I was lured with the 🤣 emoji! hahaha

I have been a member for many years, this is a great way to support the site! I do take breaks away but always find my way back to WS's when a case catches my interest! Thanks for all you do @Tricia @fraize and all mods! ❤️

Clever work-around!

Announcement Time!

We now support gifting subscriptions! Go to the User Upgrades page on your user-profile, and click the "Gift" button to select your recipient.

You can choose to send your gift anonymously if you choose, too. Spread the love, Guardians!

Ok, Ive been guilted into joining by members I thought were my friends :D

Is the monthly sub a rolling one, drawn from the payment method used?

Pedantic note but as a UK WSer, my payment is taken in US $ With no option for £ Sterling, but as a gift, both currency.options are available ( £2.30/$3) ?

Ty Fraize, a real asset to WS.... (edit : So much so, Ive returned to Edit my misspelling of your name ;) )

Oh interesting! I wonder if our gifting option is overlooking the currency-code requirement. I'll dig into that a little and see if that's a bug. Thanks for bringing that to my attention, and welcome to Guardians!

The gifting is the one that had both options but my own membership was only in $ :)
