Missing Person Search in Southern Boone County

A missing person’s report was filed on November 8, 2018 with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, regarding Matthew Venis, 33 of Lebanon. The report stated that Matthew had not been seen or heard from since November 4, 2018. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has been working tips and leads on this missing person since the report was filed. Today several members of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office searched on foot over 25 acres of woods in southern Boone County after receiving a tip that the missing person might be in the area. Also assisting on the call was the Lebanon Police Department with their drone and Indiana USAR Task Force #1 with their cadaver K-9’s. After searching all the properties for several hours, Matthew Venis was not located.

Boone County court records show multiple arrests for receiving stolen property and possession of controlled substances and meth. That's going to have him around some pretty sketchy people. One arrest had him down to 115 pounds so he was likely doing some heavy use.

On Tuesday several members of the Boone County Sheriff's Office started searching two ponds following a tip that a missing person, Matthew Venis, might be in the area.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department, Lebanon Fire Department, Force One with cadaver K-9's and the Department of Natural Resources all assisted in the search that spanned two days. According to Sheriff Michael Nielsen, Venis was not located.

A missing person's report regarding the Lebanon man was filed on November 8 of last year. The report stated that Venis, 33, had not been seen or heard from since November 4.

Body found in Indy woods identified as missing Boone Co. man
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to a wooded area on Pike Plaza Road around 6 p.m. Thursday evening, just west of Lafayette Square. Police say the body may have been in the field for some time before it was located.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office later identified that body as Matthew Venis.
