This might be a crazy theory to some of you but it explains the date she went missing. 1931 families were given food, fuel, and cash assistance to prevent starvation. The amount given was based on family size. What if Opal did pass during child birth and her husband covered it up so he would continue to receive the assist for her? We see it on the frequently on the News today where a person dies and a family member covers it up to keep the Social Security check.

If Opal suffered from depression after giving birth, it is possible someone could have sent her to a hospital (IMO). Mental illness at this time was not spoken about and everything was hushed up. Even in 2021 there is stigma. (IMO).

How about this?
It is interesting but gives rise to an obvious question; given that the body was found in October 1932 and the coroner found the death probably occurred 5-6 months earlier where was she between March 1931 and early 1932 if this was Opal? It does not mean it is not her (and the bobbed hair certainly is a flag) but it is a gap in the timeline. Another obvious question is whether the burial plot was recorded which would enable dna in the event of an exhumation.
