Indianapolis declares gun violence a public health danger after 21-3 City-County Council vote
The Indianapolis City-County Council voted Monday night to recognize gun violence and violent crime as a public health danger.
The proposal, which was approved with a 21-3 vote, opens up the opportunities for the city to seek additional funding for initiatives and programs designed to fight crime and for additional funding to establish and operate programs through the Office of Public Health and the Marion County Health Department.
