MI Irene Auhll 41, St Clair Shores - January/February 1965

Irene Auhll was beaten severely then locked in the trunk of her car and left to die. She was missing for weeks before her body was recovered from her abandoned vehicle.

While her husband was "cleared" via polygraph, I've heard rumors over the last 15 months that he made a deathbed confession to her murder. JMO/IMO

The case remains open and unsolved.

Irene is my relative. I have been desperately trying to get her case solved. Her son and I have been trying to get the Detroit PD to look into the case but they refuse to contact us and ignore our calls or visits to the police station. I think because they know that the killer is dead it doesn’t matter. But it does! Irene deserves justice by having her case closed and having her son know what happened befor he passes away.
Irene died a violent death..beaten to the point her jaw was broken, she was left to die in the trunk of the car. This was obvious by the clawing Irene tried desperately to do to get out.
Her second husband did make a deathbed confession. This was verified by her step-son. How the husband passed the lie detector test was actually easy back then. See, he had done time in Stillwater Minnesota for robbery crimes. He learned how to pass a lie dector test using a using a pin in your foot (during a polygraph test, especially during the 1960s when the technology was less advanced, was to create a consistent physiological response to throw off the readings). There is a podcast done on this case if you google it.
If anyone can help get the detroit pd to actually look into this i would be so grateful!

I have a 1977 case in Detroit where the alleged perp is still alive, but Detroit doesn't have the resources to focus on this case, even tho there is blood evidence to test.

It's highly unlikely they would expend resources when the alleged perp is long dead.

There is a fairly recently formed Michigan State Police led cold case task force. Perhaps sending all known information on her murder to them would get them to consider studying the case.
