Well, today is the day the terrorists called for jihad across the world.

How packed is the population in Gaza?

The Gaza Strip is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. More than two million people live in an area of about 365 sq km.

So with about 5,700 people to each sq km, it's very similar to the density of population in London.

As the map below shows, in Gaza City, north of the Wadi Gaza, there are more than 9,000 people per sq km.

Residents of Gaza city begin to evacuate

There has not been, in modern times, an Israeli order of this kind for Gaza that I am aware of. Previous incursions have been for limited areas, with warnings that everyone should move out within a mile or two of where they might come in.

In 2014 we saw people get into cars, or carts, or sometimes even walk, and move down into Gaza City, where UN schools can be used as refuges.

There is massive damage in Gaza, a lack of food, no fuel, the water is cut off and now more than a million people are being told by the Israelis to head south for their own benefit in the next 24 hours.

Imagine trying to do that, in those circumstances, with your family, with everything you need for the next few weeks and, if you have got a car, no fuel.

So I think what the UN says is accurate - this is going to be a very hard, very difficult thing to do.

Plus the added difficulties of Hamas telling people not to go and Egypt refusing to take in people. I don't know how this can work.

UN agency: Gaza fast becoming a hellhole

The commissioner general of the UN's Palestinian refugee agency has said that "Gaza is fast becoming a hellhole and is on the brink of collapse".

"The scale and speed of the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Gaza is bone-chilling," Philippe Lazzarini said.

Lazzarini appealed to all parties involved to give "immediate and unconditional" humanitarian access and protection to Gaza's civilians and uphold the laws of war.
He added that Israel's order that 1.1 million people leave northern Gaza was "horrendous“.

"This will only lead to unprecedented levels of misery and further push people in Gaza into abyss," Lazzarini said.

About Gaza Strip:

- Hamas bunkers under hospitals, mosques and UN schools,

- half of the population is under 18,

- unemployment 67%.

More than two million people nestle in 365 square kilometers of sand, making Gaza the third most densely populated place on earth.

At the beginning of the century there were half as many, but each Gazan woman gives birth to an average of 4.4 children.
This means that more than half of the inhabitants are 18 years old or younger.

Police say officers killed 4 Palestinians who planted IEDs on West Bank barrier

Police say officers have killed four Palestinians after they planted explosives on the West Bank security barrier.

In a statement, police say Border Police officers spotted the four suspects approaching the fence near the Nitsanei HaShalom Industrial Zone, close to Tulkarem, and setting off bombs.

The officers returned fire, killing them, police say.

According to the Palestinian Authority health ministry, at least 44 West Bank Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers since October 7.

Suspected infiltration alert sounds in kibbutz near Lebanon border

A suspected infiltration alert is sounding in the northern kibbutz of Hanita on the Lebanon border.

There have been several false alarms in northern Israel in recent days, as tensions remain high with the Hezbollah terror group.

ANALYSIS: The current situation means Israel is now able to not only to overthrow Hamas and to destroy its capabilities, but also to create a situation where the Gaza Strip no longer disturbs the State of Israel – neither politically, from a security point of view, economically, or in any other way.

Gaza resident: There's no safe place here and no escape

Farah Abo Sedo was in Gaza City this morning and told the BBC's Newshour programme that she didn't know what to do after hearing the evacuation warning.

"I'm seeing people holding their bags like they want to run away but where should we go?

"It's a small city there's no escape, we're trying to save our lives.
"They bomb us every single night without any mercy, there's nothing left.

“No-one protects us or sends us help, there's no safe place here, there are a lot of children and pregnant women and no-one helps us."

While this might be hard to do, what other choice to anyone have?

Israel can't just stop and wait for everyone to move. That gives Hamas time to counter whatever is about to happen. They didn't just bomb them, which would have given the element of surprise in their favor to hit Hamas before it could plan for it. They don't want to harm innocent civilians, but they can't do nothing. There are hostages and that means the longer this goes on the more likely they are killed. The longer this goes on the more likely innocent civilians die due to the conditions in Gaza.. The quick, swift end to this is beneficial for all, but that can't happen if Israel keeps waiting, giving warnings, and so on. There is no win - win where everyone that is innocent survives. It's awful, but do we (general we) want Hamas destroyed or do we want no innocent people harmed and Hamas to continue to bomb Israel and harm it's own people too? The quicker this can end the quicker aide supplies can enter Gaza also. They can't safely do that with Hamas waiting in the wings to continue it's destruction.

Heavily pregnant woman forced to evacuate describes conditions awaiting Gazans in the south

A heavily pregnant woman who fled Gaza City on Monday told CNN that she fears for the future as hordes of Gazan civilians start making their way to the southern Gaza strip following Israel's evacuation order.

Nardeen Fares, who is nine months pregnant, told CNN over the phone that she traveled with her husband from al-Rimal, a neighborhood in Gaza City, to the town of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza strip earlier this week.

“Right now, there is an exodus of thousands of people. You're talking about half of the Gaza Strip moving to Khan Younis,” the 27-year-old told CNN.
Khan Younis is located in southern Gaza and is roughly 16 miles or a 39-minute drive from Gaza City. Videos obtained by CNN have also shown civilians driving towards the coastal town of Deir al Balah in central Gaza on Friday.

In the videos, cars can be seen piled high with mattresses and other belongings driving towards Deir al Balah. Another video shows a truck full of civilians driving towards the same location, which lies roughly 12 miles from Gaza City.

Those who have fled Gaza City are currently sheltering in cramped accommodation, Fares said, telling CNN that she is currently sharing a space with over 50 other people in Khan Younis.

“As a woman who is in her last month of pregnancy, God knows when it will happen and what the situation will be like then,” Fares said.

“Bombardment, no bombardment, you don't know what will happen then. Hospitals are almost gone, medical services are almost gone, fuel at hospitals is almost gone, ICUs are almost non-operational, and operation rooms are short of being non-operational. So even in hospitals, the situation is bad," she continued.

Fares told CNN that arrivals in Khan Younis continue to grow, observing that more and more people are “fleeing and hiding."
