I realize this isn't the most reliable source, but it's all I have right now, and the papers have been filed and <modsnip - this info is not referenced at the link> At the time, 1992, she was 9 and he was 17.

The details, as one could expect, are absolutely horrifying.

Jared Leisek allegedly raped a relative twice in 1992 when the victim, who is seven years younger, was between nine and ten years old, according to the criminal complaint obtained by The U.S. Sun.
...
The criminal charges were filed Friday in Sanpete County Court in Utah.
More at the link.

I wonder how common it is for a person to be indicted for a 30 yr old SA accusation. <modsnip>
I think it's becoming more common with adult offenders, but this is the first case I've heard of where someone who was under 18 at the time of the crimes has been charged.

This case interests me mainly because I would hate to see it derail the good work that Adventures with Purpose has been doing over the past three years. I hope that Leisek steps away from the group permanently. If he continues to participate, it will almost certainly harm their fundraising efforts. So far they have located 26 bodies in 25 vehicles, but I think that that number pales in comparison to the number of submerged vehicles in the U.S. containing human remains that have not yet been found.

<modsnip - no link to the charges>
I’ll not be giving any pass or leniency to him because of ‘good works’. His best work would be coming forward turning himself in, admitting guilt for all acts and all victims, and going into treatment. That and only that would garnish respect from me
<modsnip>
So, Justice for the all the victims, those we know about and those we may not

IMHO, let the chips fall where they may. I hope she gets a sense of peace and healing while I also hope that he gets jail time if he is found guilty. <modsnip - no link to that has been posted anywhere in this thread>

MOD REMINDER:
The Terms of Service are intentionally strict as WS is the gold standard of true crime discussion websites, and we all work hard to keep it that way.

Here are a few of the key rules:

- Post only facts, and that must be linked to the source of those facts.
- If it can’t be linked, it can’t be posted. That includes any pictures.
- Approved links are from mainstream media (MSM) or law enforcement (LE) statements.
- The ONLY Facebook links permitted are those from MSM, LE, the victim, or the OFFICIAL missing page if there is one established.

- NO public comments from ANY source are allowed as they cannot be verified.

All of you posting that "it hasn't shown up in MSM yet, but . . . " are violating TOS. Comments in social media can't be linked, and if it can't be linked, it can't be talked about here because it's still RUMOR.
Time-outs will be issued for further violations.

I am not sure how common it is. My personal opinion is, most likely tried to forget about it and move on with their life. If there was a constant reminder everywhere you looked online, and you had to see the person who hurt you being hailed a hero...it would compel someone to make the decision to put themselves through the torture of a case and possible trial. JMO

Additionally, Utah previously had a statute of limitations. It was lifted a while back. Utah dropped the statute of limitations for serious sex crimes; has it helped?

I think seeing someone who hurt you so badly being made into a saint definitely sets off something inside. Good for the victims for finally putting themselves first.

It's ironic that the very same msm that promoted AWP's conspiracy theory about Kiely's death is now reporting on the horrific charges laid for the owner of AWP. I'm still bitter that AWP chose to invent a conspiracy theory over Kiely's death. It brought unnecessary grief to the family and caused social media to turn on Kiely's friends.

Unfortunately IMO AWP will be under the shadow of suspicion unless Jared steps down and out from the company. AWP does an amazing job when they stay in their lane and do what they know best; I hate to think of losing that benefit due to its owner's indictment. MOO.

Bumping the article:

From his personal website...

Jared Leisek - Who Am I and What's My Story? Life Story

I live my life as an open book with no skeletons.
What an odd thing to say in a bio? Hopefully AWP can reorganize, maybe change their name and continue doing the work they do to find the missing. The organization is a worthy one- I'd hate for future families to miss out on an opportunity to get their loved ones back.

Yes, that is exactly the case. I grew umy predator being hailed as a hero, a church deacon, a loved and respected coach and teacher.
The question was never asked- who else as a teacher and coach did he hurt?

AWP is not the only organization that recovers the missing from sunken cars. They are the most visible and vocal but not the only one, nor the oldest one.
