'Unthinkable tragedy' | Husband charged for allegedly murdering wife in front of children at southeast Indy home

Cecil Mains, 47, of Indianapolis, has been charged with murder.

According to court documents, Jeri filed a protection order on Christmas Day, alleging Cecil had threatened to kill her multiple times.
IMPD Sgt. Amanda Hibschman told 13News at the scene that witnesses told officers about the vehicle that had fled the scene. Officers were able to track the vehicle down and pull it over. That's when Cecil was detained and officially arrested the next day.
During the investigation, one of the children told police she was in the house when Cecil came inside and took a gun out of the safe while Jeri was not home. When Jeri returned home, she began arguing with Cecil — that's when the child said he started pointing the gun at her.
