Jessica was last seen in Omaha, Nebraska between 10:45 pm and 11:15 pm on May 10, 2006. She said she was en route to her boyfriend's residence. She made a phone call to her boyfriend at 11:48 pm. She has never been heard from again.
Several days after her disappearance, her car was found parked near the Oak View Mall, across the street from where she worked. After the discovery of the car, investigators searched the home of Jessica's boyfriend, Christopher A. Edwards. They found evidence that a crime had been committed, including blood evidence. The blood was Jessica's, and the amount of blood found indicated that her survival was very unlikely.
In June 2006, Edwards was arrested and charged with Jessica's murder. He was convicted of 2nd-degree murder in April 2007, and he was sentenced to 100 years to life. The Nebraska Supreme Court upheld his conviction in 2009.
Jessica's remains have never been found.
