Congressman Jim Jordan knew about sex abuse at OSU, former wrestlers say

"He (DiSabato) added that Strauss routinely gave medically unnecessary, extensive groin examinations and who took as many as half a dozen showers a day with athletes in different sports complexes. DiSabato said Jordan’s “locker was located right next to Doc Strauss. It was an open, running joke that Doc Strauss was a serial groper.”

One wrestler said he told Jordan directly about the abuse.

Three Strauss victims and former head coach Russ Hellickson appear in a 12-minute private video, describing the abuse. Hellickson recounts telling Strauss that he showered too frequently and too long with student-athletes."

Old article:
"David Range, a wrestler at the school in the late 1980s, told The Washington Post on Saturday that Jordan, the assistant wrestling coach from 1987 to 1995, was present for conversations about the alleged sexual misconduct by Richard Strauss. “Jordan definitely knew that these things were happening—yes, most definitely. It was there. He knew about it because it was an everyday occurrence,” he said. “We talked about it all the time in the locker room” while Jordan was present, he said. Jordan has been accused of covering up the alleged abuse by several former wrestlers, though he has denied ever being aware of the allegations. On Friday, he told Fox News, “Conversations in a locker room are a lot different than people coming up and talking about abuse.”

To me, this is more horrendous than Sandusky. It is Nasser but with males

So true, Human. I believe that any who knew should be dealt with as severely as those in the Nasser case. Who the hell is a team leader (coach, asst coach, or Athletic Director) and lets the team doctor shower with the athletes? Who does not take the lockerroom talk (the doc is a perv) and doesn't act? Who has a locker next to the perv and doesn't get help with the issues that are being complained about or joked about?

Both articles cited are from July 2018. Has OSU completed their investigation & has the civil lawsuit been resolved.

Mark Coleman, who is also a former UFC world champion, said in a press release supplied by Shirley & Banister Public Affairs that his previous comments "were not accurate."

"At no time did I ever say or have any direct knowledge that Jim Jordan knew of Dr. Richard Strauss’ inappropriate behavior," Coleman said in the release. "I have nothing but respect for Jim Jordan as I have known him for more than 30 years and know him to be of impeccable character."

Six former wrestlers interviewed by NBC News have said they believe Jordan must have known about the alleged abuse, but Yetts is the only one who said he had told Jordan about it directly. Other wrestlers, including two who spoke to NBC News, have said they believe that Jordan did not know about it.

"Jordan denied the allegations then, saying, “I never knew about any type of abuse. If I did, I would have done something about it.”

Yet, in a Fox News interview, Jordan did admit that he heard “conversations in a locker room” about the issue.

Jordan said he was interviewed over the summer as part of an independent investigation that was announced by the university in April, and the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights also launched a Title IX investigation into the allegations in August. An Ohio State spokesman said Wednesday the school’s independent investigation remains underway."

I like to analyze the title of an article before I read it. It gives me a heads up of possible bias in a story. This title is saying to me that we couldn't beat him at the polling booth, so lets try plan B. JMO I expect most to disagree but my instincts have served me pretty well.

So enabling a sexual predator should be ignored because someone is up for election?

I certainly wonder how someone could be so ignorant, then, of what is going on. As a coach, shouldn’t he be more aware and in tune with his athletes? Incredible.

From the article

“I participated with Jimmy (Jordan) and the other wrestlers in locker room talk about Strauss,” former OSU wrestler Shawn Dailey, who said he was groped half a dozen times by Strauss in the mid-1990s, told NBC News. “We all did. It was very common knowledge in the locker room that if you went to Dr. Strauss for anything, you would have to pull your pants down.

Interesting how widely known this was, according to Dailey.

Interesting how widely known this was, according to Dailey.

But people are supposed to believe Jordan did not know?
