Cadaver dog brought in to search for missing Kincardine, Ont. man
''Oct. 31, 2012, [Moore] was last seen here at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine. Multiple witnesses saw him here, and we’ve spoken to all of those people. After that , he has just not been seen again,” he says.

A black coat, like one he used to wear, washed up near Kincardine a year after he went missing. But since then, there’s not been much action on his case.''

“It doesn’t take long for cases to go cold. Law enforcement has a very small window to find something before something else moves to the top of the pile. It’s not their fault. It’s just the way it is,” says Oldrieve.

A part of the Kincardine trail system near Davidson Centre was closed by the municipality, so a cadaver dog could search for Joe’s remains, or clues that might lead to him being found.''

Local cold-case sleuths have busy summer planned
''Searching resumes Tuesday near the Davidson Centre in Kincardine for clues to Joe Moore’s disappearance, now nearly eight years ago.

The Owen Sound-based Please Bring Me Home team of volunteers, with dogs trained to sniff out human remains, searched the bush and trail system Friday and was to return to finish searching that area.''

“If they don’t find anything here I’m not going to be too disappointed because I know that the police already searched this area,” Bedard said.

“But I’m going to be really hopeful for the two other locations that I’ve been told that they might search because of some of the tips that have come in.”

She said she watched the team members and their dogs hunt for her brother’s remains, his long black coat with fur trim and tall boots, and was impressed with how quickly they worked. She said she’s thankful for their efforts to help.''

'The Please Bring Me Home organization is planning an intensive search of at least three areas this summer as the volunteer group hopes to help solve local missing person cases.'

'Oldrieve said the group is searching for evidence of Joseph Moore in a wooded area by the trail system behind the Davidson Centre in Kincardine. Moore was last seen in the area, and the theory is he may have been walking home to an apartment on Princes Street when he died.

Moore, 49, of Kincardine was last seen on Oct. 31, 2012. He didn’t own a car and was often seen walking around the town.'

'The 40-volunteer search group will conduct grid searches of the wooded areas, walking arms-length apart and taking only a few steps before closely examining the surrounding area and picking through any debris.

“The goal is to look at one square foot at a time and be confident you never have to return to that square foot again. It’s essentially 40 people split into four different groups going to four different areas and repeating that process a billion times,” Oldrieve said.'
