While he was never found guilty of murder, he is suspected in numerous murders from Washington DC to Florida. But exactly how many did he kill before he was arrested for the abduction of a hitchhiker in Malabar in 1985?
A prime suspect for the murders of Debbie Fitzjohn and Patty Volanski and a good suspect for the murder of Kathy Beatty, Crutchley could have killed numerous.
While I found that he had lived in Pennsylvania for a time, I cannot find when he lived there or where. Remember, this is purely speculation.
July 5th 1970: Patricia Ann Moore, 10, Clifton, Virginia. Had been going to visit a friend when she vanished. Her body was found in October the same year in Woodbridge.
May 11th 1972: Helen Allison, 16, Fairfax, Virginia. Missing. Was dropped off in Fairfax after school.
March 4th 1974: Brenda Davidson, 13, Woodbridge, Virginia. Missing. Had gone to get the bus to school, but never arrived.
December 14th 1974: Eileen Kelly, 18, Washington DC. Found dead on 22nd December but had only been dead between 24 and 36 hours.
July 24th 1975: Kathy Lynn Beatty, 15, Silver Spring, Maryland. She was assaulted in some woods behind a 7-11. She was rushed to hospital but died of her injuries on August 5th.
June 1976: Karen Kamasch, 14, Pasadena, Maryland. Missing.
July 17th 1977: Nancy Jason, 18, Bethesda, Maryland. Missing. Had been known to hitchhike.
January 28th 1978: Deborah Fitzjohn, 25, Fairfax, Virginia. Had been on a date with Crutchley when she vanished. Her body was found nine months later.
April 20th 1979: Katherine Anderson, 24, Chester, Maryland. Missing. Picked up her vehicle from Annapolis, but disappeared afterward.
April 3rd 1980: Cynthia Gastelle, 18, Haymarket, Virginia. She had last been seen in Takoma Park, Maryland. Her body was discovered in February 1982 in Haymarket, but she was not identified until 2012.
March 14th 1981: Mary Cook Spencer, 26, Prince Frederick, Maryland. Missing. Her car was found in Lusby with the key still in the ignition.
February 25th 1982: Veronica Hepworth, 20, Fairfax County, Virginia. She had been at a bar when she celebrated a friends birthday. Her body was found later that day in a driveway.
June 6th 1983: Nancy Brown, 25, Cocoa Beach, Florida. Remains found in Canaveral Groves.
April 7th 1984: Cheryl Ann Windsor, 16, Merritt Island, Florida. Had vanished from Orlando and was found in Merritt Island on 1st May.
June 1984: Kimberly Walker, 21, Vero Beach, Florida. Her body was found in Malabar, where Crutchley lived, in January 1985.
March 15th 1985: Patty Volansky, 29, Mims, Florida. She had been reportedly hitchhiking. Her wallet was found in Crutchleys possession.
July 1985: Jane Doe, 30-40, Melbourne, Florida. Found in a densely wooded area on December 16th.
