I haven't thought about John Mark Karr in quite a while but ran across an interview from November 2017:
Former JonBenet Ramsey murder suspect attempts to start anew in Aberdeen
It has the quote (note Karr now goes by Alex (or Alexis) Reich:
When I was arrested in 2006, and I wasn’t asked to be thrown in front of international cameras in Bangkok, they kept asking me, ‘Did you kill this little girl? Did you kill this little girl? And I said, this is what I said, and you can look at the footage and this is the first time I said anything on camera. I said, ‘I was with her when she died.’ That’s not a confession. That’s not a confession. I could be with my grandmother when she died. It doesn’t say I killed my grandmother; it says I was with my grandmother when she died. They asked, ‘How did you kill her?’ and I said, ‘Her death was accidental.’”
And another quote:
“The DNA last November…a panel of experts investigated that DNA, and they found what is known as a compound sample with 11 different samples in one. It’s been discounted by experts,” Reich said. “According to those experts in November 2016, it is a tainted sample, and it would never be admissible in court because it doesn’t have 10 markers. How do I know about all this stuff? When your life is hanging in a balance and you’ve got a DNA expert attorney, and I did, he definitely let me in on the ends and outs of DNA technology.
Karr also has a website:
johnmarkkarr.com
It has the quote:
I've been asked if I'm worried about this latest DNA development. Of course, I've always had great concerns that my DNA was left behind; however, with the small time local authorities who are in charge of this case along with the corruption that has been proven over the years, I'm not as worried as I would be if it were a valid agency with proper resources, not influenced by wealth or fame or political gain. The day this case falls into the hands of the FBI will be the day I'll have something to worry about.
And another quote:
My arrest was based on my account of the night of her death that corroborated with physical evidence withheld from the public by the coroner and law enforcement from 1996 to 2006.
It seems like Karr doesn't know when to shut up. Top it off with all the photos of children on Karr's website and it just seems so incriminating. Did they ever really clear Karr? Is the statement about the DNA true? What is the current thought on Karr?
