A major search is underway to find a British businessman who disappeared from his luxury hotel in Nairobi.
Campbell Scott, a senior director at listed data analytics company Fico, was reported missing on Monday night by a colleague with whom he travelled to the Kenyan city.
After arriving at the JW Marriott Hotel in the city centre on Sunday, Scott was last seen when he left the accommodation at around 11:15am on Monday.
His colleague was unable to reach the 58-year-old at 6pm, and was told by staff to call the police an hour later.
Hotel management, security and police officers then began searching for him, before the case was taken over by senior detectives who visited hotels and bars in the affluent Westlands neighbourhood to see if they could find any information about him.

So far, at least five people, including security guards and hotel staff, have given statements to police, according to The Times.

But there don't appear to be any leads yet, as officers have now requested help from Interpol to access Scott's phone records to find out if anyone contacted him before he disappeared.
The businessman, who joined Fico in 2014 from Experian UK, was due to attend a three-day workshop with senior officials from the UK, US and several African countries to discuss markets for new products.

ETA: Snipped...
...It is unclear whether his mobile has actually been located but having its number will allow investigations to be made regardless. Mr Scott worked for a company called FICO - the Fair Isaac Corporation based in Bozeman, Montana - whose website states it “is used by lenders to help make accurate, reliable, and fast credit risk decisions.”

Last CCTV image of Scot found dead 'in sack' as two arrested in Kenya

CCTV footage has been released capturing the final moments of Scottish businessman Campbell Scott before he vanished in Kenya while on a work trip.

An image from security camera footage appears to show the 58-year-old from Dunfermline, Fife, walking on foot in a car park dressed in a blue top with the Scotland flag emblazoned on the shoulder and shorts. Glasses are resting on the top of his head, and he has a few unidentified belongings in his hands.

Cops fear Campbell, 58, was kidnapped and attacked before his body was dumped in the forest.

Local reports say his hands and feet were bound with rope before he was left at the quiet spot.

I wonder if there was a reason he was put in a sack of pineapples? That seems strange IMO

It’s thought his attackers were trying to pass themselves off as fruit vendors if they were stopped at a roadblock with the corpse.

The poor man. Horrific.

Rest in peace, Campbell.
Usually in a robbery/kidnapping they keep the victim alive for a ransom ?
Wonder what the motive was, or just robbery and nothing else ?
Horrific.
Omo.
Moo: they thought they had a rich gay business tourist. He was targeted and honey trapped. They saw him as subhuman.
Moo: police saying extortion plot means a demand was made of someone.
Moo: much more news to come.

Franklin Wallah added: “Plans are underway for an autopsy as police work on forensic analysis of the deceased's mobile phone and his bank accounts.

“Police want to find out if there are any financial transactions proper to Scott’s killing.”

Police have arrested two men, a taxi driver and a nightclub waiter, as investigations into Scott’s death continue.

It's understood the taxi driver has been released on bail after giving a statement. He’s believed to have shown cops where he dropped Campbell off and his vehicle has been seized as part of the probe.

A National Police Service spokesman described it as a “heinous, heinous crime” and said it is an “intricate and complex” investigation which is now being led by the specialist unit
A Foreign Office spokesperson said: "We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Kenya and are in contact with the local authorities."

Dr Odour told the media outlet Mr Scott sustained "head injury and multiple soft tissue injuries…blunt trauma."

But he added: "Though just to clarify, the injuries as per the pathologists looked too minor to cause death. So they have taken samples to further investigate."

Detectives believe that the the people with the Dunfermline-born businessman at the time he died, panicked and decided to dispose of his body in order to try and deflect suspicion away from themselves.

NTV Kenya news reporter, Katherine Mwando told viewers: "Sources close to the investigation said Scott may not have been murdered. But rather may have suffered complications after consuming a performance enhancing pill."

She continued: "He may have developed these complications while at Pipeline Estate Nairobi, the last location he was seen alive. His injuries may not have been from a violent attack."

I dunno I’m not buying this.
