Krakatoa volcano Anak Krakatau erupts in Indonesia (New Zealand Herald)

The world-famous Krakatoa volcano, Anak Krakatau, has erupted in Indonesia, with a fountain of lava and a huge plume of smoke and ash.

There are reports of a "large magmatic eruption" at the volcano island.

Satellite imagery shows ash several kilometres into the air and a plume as high as 15km.

"This seems to be the strongest eruptive phase since the violent phreatomagmatic activity following the partial collapse of the volcano on 22 Dec 2018, which had triggered a deadly tsunami that killed hundreds of people on Java's west coast," reported volcanodiscovery.com.

After that eruption, scientists said the volcano island was reduced to about a quarter of its pre-eruption size.

I saw the before and after pictures of the landslide. They were quite impressive.

Hope there's no property damage or injuries from this.

I liked this book much more than his book about the 1906 San Fransisco Earthquake.

(Possibly prefer The Professor and the Madman over both.)

That latter -- complete U.S. title The Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary -- is the one of his to read, all right, perfect for quarantine.
