I haven't found info about how long the baby's body was there, but am wondering it if could be connected to the 'mystery man' found in four- mile creek two years before?

No, probably not. Another article says that man may have died 15 years before. Were dating of remains reliable in 62?

You know, I'm not totally convinced there was a child's remains found in Four Mile Creek. The mystery man was found in 1960, buried in 1962 and while I can find MSM coverage for his planned burial in October 1962, there is no mention of an unidentified child. Cannot find anything anywhere about this mystery child.

Could the tombstone's 1960 inscription represent a found date rather than an estimated birth date? Is this the mystery man's grave?

I believe this is the grave of the unknown adult.

Discovered on September 15, 1960 along the banks of Four Mile Creek, about 6 miles southwest of Augusta, Kansas.

He was 35-45 years old, 5’10” and stocky.
His skull was stove in (smashed in).
He’d been dead up to 15 years.
A belt buckle was found.
