Found Deceased KS - Hazel Phillips, 78, Miami County, 9 Oct 2018 *Silver Alert*

78-year-old Hazel Phillips was last contacted by family Tuesday evening. She told them she would be leaving for Drexel, Mo. Wednesday morning, but she did not reach her destination.

Hazel has brown hair and green eyes. She stands about 5'6 and weighs about 120 pounds. Her vehicle is described as a silver 2008 Chevy Malibu with Kansas tag 450 HLB.

"Hazel may be suffering from medical conditions which could be a safety concern for her."

Hazel Phillips was last seen heading toward Drexel, Missouri, from Paola around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. She was last known to be driving a silver 2010 Chevy Malibu.

Phillips is partially deaf and cannot drive at drive at night, according to the sheriff’s department.

Hazel Phillips was reported missing Wednesday night. Her family said they last spoke to her Tuesday night when she told them she was going to Drexel, Missouri, on Wednesday morning.

Officials say the 78-year-old didn’t make it to Drexel, and they’ve issued a Silver Alert as they search for her.
It’s unknown what Phillips is wearing.

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office said she might be in the Paola or Osawatomie area.

Silver Alert canceled: Missing Miami County woman found dead in floodwaters

A woman reported missing from Miami County Thursday night is found dead in Paola, Kan. The statewide Silver Alert for 78-year-old Hazel Phillips has been canceled.

The Miami County Sheriff's Office says deputies were dispatched to Hospital Drive south of 327th Street for a vehicle in the water.

The flooded waters had receded, show the roof of a silver passenger car.

Crews removed a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu owned by Hazel Phillips from the water. She was dead with the vehicle.

Her cause of death is still under investigation.

Groan. I didn’t want to read that she wouldn’t be found safe, but thanks Pink for the confirmation. She’s been on my worry list for today. Her family will no longer have to wonder where she is now. They know. Now, the grief and trying to make sense of what/why/when/how will begin to overwhelm her family. They’re on my prayer list for today.
