"We looked in every possible way we could think of, everybody we might have ever known. Of all the searching we did, we just could not come up with anything," said Charles Jordan, who lives on the city's northwest side. He's 73 now, just 11 years short of his father's final birthday.

Had to add this from the article mentioned above, as it put a smile on my face to read it:

"There was one more detail that brought the family a bit of comfort and a smile. Jordan's fishing pole was found in the car, but in the trunk was a 55-pound catfish that apparently swam in there through a hole in the rotting vehicle, ate whatever came along and then grew too big to get back out through the hole. The fish was alive.

Charles is giving his father credit for this final catch.

"He liked catching catfish," he said. "He got his last one in a different kind of way.""

No bodies found in cars submerged in Topeka lake (Kansas City Star)
TOPEKA | Police say two cars that had been submerged in a Topeka lake contained no bodies.

A 1990s model Oldsmobile and a 1980s model Chevrolet Camaro were pulled from Lake Shawnee Tuesday.

A car removed from the lake in June contained the remains of 84-year-old Leonard Jordan of Milwaukee, who disappeared in 1984.
