Njoroge left his native Kenya in February 1987 to attend Hesston College, a small school in Hesston, Kansas that's affiliated with the Mennonite Church. He studied there for a year, and kept in touch with his family back in Kenya, but he never provided them his address.
In December 1989, Njoroge contacted his family and mentioned he might move to Texas. He has never been heard from since. Few details are available regarding his disappearance and his whereabouts remain unknown.
