''HOLTON (KSNT) – Law enforcement says it’s pursuing new leads in its efforts to get to the bottom of a cold case involving Russian immigrants in northeast Kansas.

Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says in a press release that multiple law enforcement agencies participated in a search warrant on a Holton home in the 400 block of E. Sixth Street on Tuesday, April 23. This is in connection to a missing person investigation and a death case''

''Morse says a Russian immigrant named Yulia Shevtensko Larrison went missing in the early 2000’s while Elena Kristova Larrison, another Russian immigrant, was killed in a reported accident in Holton in 2006. These incidents were investigated by the Holton Police Department. The investigations into these cases were reopened in 2019 with no arrests made yet.

Larrison went missing in 2000 at the age of 27 and would be 51-years-old in 2024, according to the KBI. She is described as being around 5’07 in height and weighing around 145 pounds.''

''The Jackson County, Kansas Sheriff's Office says there's been a new development in a cold case investigation that first began nearly 25 years ago.

Sheriff Tim Morse issued a press release Tuesday announcing that a search warrant had been served in connection with the decades-old investigation at a residence in the 400 block of East Sixth Street in Holton.

The search warrant stems from the reported disappearance of Yulia Shevtensko Larrison in 2000, as well as the death investigation of Elena Kristova Larrison in 2006.''

Search warrant stemmed from missing persons investigation ends in arrest in Holton

A search warrant for a 23-year-old cold case has concluded and a Holton man has been arrested.

A Holton man would be arrested in the 400 block of East 6th St. That man was later identified as Rex Dwaine Larrison, 64, of Holton. As a result of the investigation, Larrison was arrested for criminal use of an explosive and booked into the Jackson County Jail.

Details of Disappearance​

Yulia was last seen in Jackson County, Kansas on July 6, 2000. She has never been heard from again.

In April 2024, authorities searched a residence in the 400 block of East 6th Street in Holton, Kansas for evidence in Yulia's case, and also in the 2006 death of Elena Kristova Larrison. Elena died in Holton hospital at age 38 on June 19, 2006, in what was originally ruled an accident. The case was reopened in 2019, at the same time police began re-investigating Yulia's disappearance.

After concluding the search, police arrested Rex Dwaine Larrison and charged him with criminal use of an explosive. A photo of him is posted with this case summary. The explosive charge was dismissed in October 2024, and Rex is suing the police detective whose information prompted the search on his property. Rex alleges the detective violated his Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable search and seizure.

Little information is available in Yulia's case and Elena's death. Both of them were Russian immigrants who married Rex.
