Enjoy spending the rest of your life in jail.

Call me crazy but I'm not certain a 78-year-old who doesn't know how to move files to an external hard drive has the mental capacity to access and save CSAM on his computer. That's not to say he couldn't have done that. Just in my experience with 78-year-olds who aren't tech savvy, they're lucky to find the "on" button and some of them are using a loved ones computer or a loved one gives them the old computer when they (the loved one) buys a new one.

It makes me wonder if the computer belonged to a relative or if it was given to him by someone. I'll be surprised if it's really his, but stranger things have happened.

All MOO.

Well, most people who have a computer can figure out 'right click, save'. That doesn't mean they understand the complexities of moving files around.

I wondered about his age and ability as well. But the article said when LE arrived at his house he was actively downloading 🤬🤬🤬🤬. So he must at least know how to do that much. But likely doesn’t have a full understanding of what can be viewed by others.

I’ll be curious to see what a defense attorney offers up for him. Stay tuned ….

It's not just right click save. It's finding the material in the first place. I just feel like if he didn't know how to save a file to the hard drive or move it to the hard drive, I have to wonder. But I guess that's what the investigation is for.

I agree that it is not hard to download. You might not know where it goes but if you can type it.... you can find it. Then, you download it. He might have thought that since he didn't see it that it was gone. But, he knew enough that he needed an external hard drive to store his data to keep it forever. Glad he will be going to jail. Hoping for a higher bond.

Further investigation showed Hancock was in possession of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 showing adults engaged in sex acts with children under the age of 12. Hancock admitted to police that he had downloaded “at least 300 sexually explicit images of children with adults,” according to WDRB.com. Looked for an update, but didn't find anything on this guy.

78-year-old Jack Hancock sought help from Best Buy's Geek Squad, the tech store's in-house repair team, to move data from the laptop onto an external drive on Aug. 28, according to a citation obtained by Law&Crime.

“At the time of the search warrant, the suspect was actively downloading CSAM onto his computer,” they wrote.

if I am understanding the above articles properly, he brought in an laptop, and an external hard drive, needing the geek squad's assistance with removing items form his laptop to the external drive. When the staffer checked the external hard drive to make sure all files the old man wanted transferred had done so, they discovered the CSAM on that external hard drive.

When LE went and searched his home they found still more evidence of ongoing downloading of CSAM.
