KY - Cairo Ammar Jordan, 5 - found dead in Salem, Washington Co., Indiana, 22 April, 2022 *mother charged*

Tuesday, March 31st:
*Pretrial Conference Hearing [Murder] (@ 10:30am ET) – KY – Cairo Ammar Jordan (5) was found about 7:30pm Saturday night, April 16, 2022 by a mushroom hunter in the heavily wooded area of Washington County off a dead-end road, 80 ft. from a roadway inside a suitcase with a distinctive Las Vegas design on the front & back near the town of New Pekin. May have died within the last week. He was identified on October 26, 2022. - *DeJaune Ludie Anderson (37/now 40) "mom" indicted & re-charged (12/8/25) & arraigned (12/15/25) with murder, manslaughter, criminal abuse & abuse of a corpse. Bond set at $500K. Jefferson County
Case in Indiana was dismissed (12/8/25) & moved to Kentucky.
Trial was set to begin on 1/6/26 as case was moved to Kentucky. No further trial dates yet.
Indiana: Judge Larry W. Medlock presiding. DA Tara Coats Hunt. Defense attorney Alex Michael Oxley.
Kentucky: Jefferson County Commonwealth’s attorney Gerina Whethers. Defense attorney Alex Michael Oxley.

1/27/26 Update: Murder: Next pretrial conference hearing on 3/31/26 @ 10:30am. Abuse: Next preliminary hearing on 2/26/26 @ 9am.
2/26/26 Update: Abuse: Preliminary hearing was reset on 5/6/26 @ 9am.

No updates that I can see other than the hearing for the first charge (top) has been completed & no further hearings have been scheduled for that case. Hearing for the murder charge is still as previously scheduled.
