The Falmouth Fire Department says the blaze was reported late Sunday in a barn along Kentucky 17. Officials are investigating to determine the cause. Pendleton County Coroner Jonathon Peoples told news outlets three bodies were found in the barn after the blaze was extinguished.

According to investigators Carl Grizovicu, 35 years old, and his 7 and 9 year old daughters were pronounced dead after their remains were found inside the structure.

Autopsies were planned to determine the causes of death.

A fire official told WXIX-TV that the mother of the girls and three other children were not in the barn at the time of the fire.

The official says the barn was built over the summer from ‘timber off the land’ and had electricity running through it. It had two floors: a ground floor with hay and an area for animals and a ‘loft’ with furniture that appeared to be a play area for the five children.

State Police at the Dry Ridge Post say the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Campbell County Fire Investigation team, but foul play is not suspected.
