The MP was mentioned in an article published in The Paducah Sun in 1983.

The article stated that police were having trouble identifying a skeleton that had been found in an abandoned coal mine in a rural part of Breathitt County. The skeleton was wrapped in a blanket, and had been located by two men searching for house coal.

'One theory was that the bones were those of Carl Hollan, an elderly bachelor who lived in a house near the mine and who disappeared about seven years ago'.

I'm not sure if the skeleton was ever identified - I tried searching in editions for a few years after that article was published, but couldn't locate anything more about it.
