Lexington police arrested Kaydence Carpenter at 2:20 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Short and Mill streets. According to an arrest citation, she was “driving with extreme indifference to the value of human life.”

Carpenter made her first court appearance in Fayette District Court on Monday afternoon after posting bail. Her attorney entered a not guilty plea on her behalf.

Carpenter was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree assault, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and an Alcoholic Beverage Control licensee allowing a person under the age of 21 to remain on a premises where alcohol is sold.

She was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond and has since been released. She’s set to appear in court at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 23. An investigation into the alleged Sunday morning DUI assault remains ongoing.
