They knew after they found her. James' aunt who was quoted in the story lives out of state. She did not have or give this information until her sister was found. Look back at the stories. They had no information until she was found.

On 28 April 2023 Lonnie Belt pleaded guilty to murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and abuse of a corpse, in the death of James Spoonamore, and for injuries of James's mother. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
