GUILTY KY - Jamie Stice, 21, murdered, fetus stolen, Oakland, 13 April 2011

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- A southern Kentucky woman has been charged with murder and kidnapping of a minor after a hospital employee called state police about a suspicious birth.

Officials said 33-year-old Kathy Michelle Coy of Morgantown remained in the Warren County Jail in Bowling Green on Thursday afternoon. Kentucky State Trooper Jonathan Biven said the charges stem from the death of 21-year-old Jamie Stice of Bowling Green, who was pregnant.

Biven said the hospital called police around 5:50 p.m. CDT Wednesday to report a suspicious birth, according to the Daily News. Troopers went to a wooded area in the Oakland community and found Stice's body, Biven said.

Around 4:30 a.m. CDT Thursday, troopers arrested Coy. Biven would not comment on the status of the baby.

What is interesting about this case is that they may have been friends on Facebook and I read in a comment on one of the stories (I'm sorry I can't remember which one) a friend had written something about being careful about who you befriend on Facebook!

The articles are not very detailed (arghhh). So I'm going to assume this <unusual person> killed Jamie Stice for her baby, then somehow the <unusual person> ended up going to the hospital with the baby claiming to have just given birth? Thus the reason the Kentucky State Police were alerted of a suspicious birth at a Bowling Green hospital.

I hope the baby is okay -- but OMGosh - how traumatic. Who does that!!!

From this article, the baby's name is Isiah, according to the father. He was not due until 5/24, so I sincerely hope he is okay.

It also sounds like Coy did exactly what we thought, killed Stiles, took the baby, and then later took him to a hospital in Bowling Green, trying to pass him off as her own newborn.

The buzz on topix is that Isiah is either in intensive care or he is not but either way is expected to be okay. I hope that is true.
The other buzz is that Coy got caught because she went to her friends house with the baby, but he was still attached to the placenta and Stiles's uterus. After her friend called 911, she tried to convince them that those were her internal organs still attached to the baby. Obviously, they didn't buy it.
There is also talk that Coy has two other children, who now have lost their mother as well. She also apparently was trying to convince people that she was pregnant over the past few months.

Can someone please tell these homicidal women that if they go to the hospital claiming to have just given birth that doctors CHECK your va-jay-jay! They check your uterus - they make sure you're not hemmoraghing - they give you pads for the EXPECTED bleeding. Yes, I've had a baby, so I know how that goes...

Neighbor of the murdering kookaboo said she came by to a yard sale she was having looking for baby items. Neighbor thought nothing of it because as mentioned Coy was telling people she was pregnant.

As she is deceased I wouldn't post it except I have no doubt that somewhere this murderer has something to do with it. She may have posted it. She may have defended her. Or even both setting the victim up.

Good lord! So she was smart enough to cut the baby out of the womb successfully but NOT smart enough to remove the "extra organs"? Sheesh.

And yes taking the newborn to the hospital was also a pretty ditzy idea. Unless she waited a few weeks and then claimed it was a "home birth" they would definitelly discover it wasn't hers.

Kathy Michelle Coy, 33, of Morgantown, KY was charged Thursday with kidnapping and murder in Stice's death. Coy subdued Stice with a stun gun, slit her throat and wrists and then cut the child from her womb.

Coy and Stice were friends on Facebook. Stice's mother, Jeannie, said Coy had been hanging around her daughter a lot in the past three weeks claiming to be a caregiver with an organization called Bibs. Stice said Coy drove her daughter around and did errands and that she never seemed strange.

Police began the investigation Wednesday after a woman brought a newborn baby to the BG Medical Center. He is reported to be ok now, but apparently had serious problems when he was brought there.

Coy's husband of 10 years thought his wife was pregnant. She has 2 children ages 12 & 13 who are with Social Services.

Granted you are right about not reporting mom, but they may have told her husband/their father who could've said 'Hey wait a minute my wife has a problem maybe I should get her some help. Or SOMETHING.'

But I guess not. Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20. And it always is easy to say here, on this side of the event, rather than prior to when maybe the signals weren't so easy to see; and even if they were, help may not have been easy to get.

I am just frustrated that carp like this happens for what seems like every day. This is not the first time a woman has killed a pregnant woman, stolen her child and tried to pass it off as her own. Though I am pretty sure it is the first time she took said child with the whole female reproductive system still attached.

Cops: Kentucky Woman Used Drywall Knife, Stun Gun to Take Baby

Police said Coy befriended Stice before driving her out into the woods April 13, attacking her with a stun gun and using a drywall knife to slit her wrists and throat. Then she allegedly ripped the baby from her womb and left Stice for dead. Winn said Coy told Stice she was taking her to buy baby supplies, according to The Associated Press.

Michlle lived less than half a mile from me and had 2 beautiful kids..she has pretended to be pregnant for awhile now..i saw her with her 2 kids many times. I feel really bad for Jamie.
She befriended her on facebook to get her baby.
Local ambulance driver said when they pulled up to her house she was in no pants and blood and placenta all over her..what she did not have enough sense to know is she had cut out part of Jamies uterus and ovaries and stuck them all over herself.(True story,...revealed in pre.lim hearing).
