Missing Person Investigation in Rockcastle County

On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, KSP Post 11 received a call about a missing person in Rockcastle County.

Joseph D. Miller, 36, of Orlando, was last seen around noon on Friday, June 21, 2024.

Miller is approximately 6' 0" tall and 150 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Miller's location should contact KSP Post 11 at 606-878-6622 or 1-800-222-5555.

“We are needing to get the word out for people to look their property over,” Evelyn Renner, Miller’s sister, told FOX 56 News. “Last we heard a friend dropped him off near Greenfish hill in Rockcastle. Nothing since.

“He’s always had contact with us throughout the years, never for this long for a period of time that he has not contacted us,” said his sister, Evelyn Renner.

Hoping that he is okay. If he usually contacted his folks by a cell-phone, perhaps he lost it or it broke somehow. Wondering how long it would take him to walk back home. Could he have had a bad fall or other injury such that he is somewhere he wouldn't be found easily?

“We don’t where to turn, we don’t know if he’s dead or alive, we don’t have anything to go on,” said Renner (sister.)

The family isn’t just waiting for answers; they are being proactive by passing out flyers and following leads from social media.

“Just waiting on any lead, any information that anyone has,” Renner said. “Someone has to know.”

Joey Miller’s friend has organized a search party for Friday afternoon at 12:30. They will meet at the Grateful Bread food pantry located in Renfro Valley.

One information stands out though: June is not a period for ginseng harvesting

Kentucky Ginseng Laws & Regulations (302 KAR 45:010)

I remember mushroom hunting out West with family and we finally quit because there was too much risk from the illegal marijuana growing patches in the National Parks and woods. Some of the people that tended those spots weren't adverse to criminal action to keep you from revealing their activity. I wouldn't have thought that was such a risk in KY but apparently it's everywhere now.

Is anyone familiar enough with the area Joey went missing to know if that would be a conceivable risk to him?
