KY- Louisville Explosion at Business, 11 employees hospitalized

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — At least 11 employees were taken to hospitals after an explosion on Tuesday at a Louisville, Kentucky, business that produces natural color for foods and drinks.

The cause of explosion, which happened at Givaudan Sense Colour, was unknown. News video footage showed an industrial building with the middle section burned and partially collapsed.

Sources told WLKY people were "missing and trapped inside," but the mayor said around 4:30 p.m. that everyone is accounted for and there are no fatalities.

They did say one person who was trapped was rescued.

He said at least 11 people were taken to local hospitals, all employees. First responders also set up a triage area near the scene.

Residents and nearby businesses had reported broken and shattered windows due to the explosion including at Clifton Baptist Church.
"I'm working at my desk and I just felt the windows shake [and] immediately knew something was different, ran outside and noticed the windows next door at Quill's were on the ground and immediately started seeing people come out. It's was around that time I started to look back at our building and saw pieces of our window out on the sidewalk as well," Jason Deming, pastor of executive leadership, said.

Two people have died after a large explosion Tuesday at a factory in Louisville.

A statement released by Givaudan, the owner of Givaudan Sense Colour factory on Payne street, said the company regretted to share that two team members were killed.
