Monroe Brock
Monroe Brock, was killed Nov. 17, 1987 at his home in Mountainview Estates about two miles southeast of Richmond.
He was shot by a sniper. The phone lines to his home had been cut, forcing family members to travel several miles to seek police assistance.
Brock was shot in the head and the bullet which killed him fragmented so badly that police were unable to determine what type of gun was used to fire the fatal shot, according to a Richmond Register newspaper article from 1987.
Brock was an owner of the Marverick Club. He had been investigated by KSP for alleged illegal gambling at the club, the article said. Stevens said that investigators believed Brock’s death might be connected to drugs, because illegal drugs were found in the home.
SNIP
This murder may be connected to another unsolved murder, the death of Donald Saylor. Saylor and Brock knew each another, Stevens said, and Saylor frequented the Maverick. Saylor was found shot to death nearly two weeks after Brock was killed. Saylor’s case will be profiled in a story which will appear in the Richmond Register Nov. 22.
