I, personally, think that he was a transient, even though he was found missing some of his clothing.

I don't think it's out of the question that he removed some of his clothes himself in some sort of mental episode or that they were taken off by the river's current. They could have been baggy.

Just came across this thread while doing some drive-by modding ...

Given the temperatures, I would suspect lack of clothing might be attributed to paradoxical undressing as a result of hypothermia.

Could it be possible that he was dead longer than what they think, and because of the temperatures being so low his body was a bit more well preserved? I'm not talking years, but maybe a few weeks? Or maybe was not in the water the whole time? I know others mentioned that flooding may have been possible at this time and if he had passed away near the bank of the river and the waters rose his body might have ended up in the river? I'm not an expert by any means, just thinking a lot about this poor man tonight.

They could have at least shaved his beard in another picture so we could get a good look at his face.

Are there any PM photos in this thread? I saw it on NamUs and eventually full screen and it was terrifying. Poor guy

Or in any links or articles besides NamUs

As far as I know, the only PM picture is the Namus one.

Also, in my opinion, he was dumped in the river. I understand how he may have took off his clothes, but I doubt he would take off his underwear, and he still had a shoe and sock on. Maybe something happened while he was taking off his clothes?

I accidentally ran across his PM photo. Not as bad as I remember but I'm shaking. I forgot that he had so much hair in his face, they need to release a photo without so much of the beard, but I think it's better for a reconstruction to be made, I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't want to see the photo. Regardless, this guy has to have a family and I hope they get closure someday.

Well said. A reconstruction would definitely help in this case.

Maybe I'm just a bit numbed about PM pictures, because I'm working on UID cases for such a long time. But I agree, not everybody can take that in and we have to understand and respect that. I don't have the feeling this is a high profile case and/or a priority. The fact that they didn't even took the hair out of his face feels like "just another one, let's get a quick pic and go on" and does frustrate me, but I can't be sure of course. I really hope somebody will make a recon.

I quote the signature of Triss The idea that someone's life matters less is root of all evil in this world. I wholehearted agree!

Is the photo still up on Namus? I haven't seen it bc body decomposition freaks me out like nothing else. And was it shared on the thread at all?

Still up on NamUs, still graphic, still not useful when it comes to making a visual identification. Not in the thread.
