So two pitbulls running loose killed a random stranger.

If it was up to me anyone whose dogs, regardless of breed, kill someone would automatically be charged with first degree murder.

It might make these dangerous breeds much less attractive if the owner risks the death penalty or LWP.

And the dogs should ALWAYS be destroyed. No exceptions.

it's not murder, but they should get big time jail--many years
...this is like a nightmare--something you dream about--then wake up....like the gator that killed the boy
......I've had dreams of animals chasing me

...in criminal justice, the sentence needs to be made public for it to be a deterrent --it won't deter all crimes, but at least some-IMO

After further investigation, the Bell County Sheriff's Department said they discovered the dogs belonged to Johnny Dale Lankford, 42, who was already being held in the Bell County Detention Center on charges from Friday, December 22nd for assault 2nd degree, domestic violence, unlawful imprisonment 2nd degree and a bench warrant.
Deputies said they interviewed Lankford inside the detention center and charged him with harboring a vicious animal, he was already being held on a $25,000 bond.

Husband of woman killed by dogs lashes out at owner: 'I hold you responsible'

The husband of a Kentucky woman killed by pit bulls is speaking out, and he wants the man who owned the dogs held responsible for her death.

John Saylor spoke to Knoxville, Tennessee ABC affiliate WATE about his wife, Lorraine, who was killed in the Christmas Eve attack. Saylor said his wife went outside to feed their cat when she was allegedly attacked by two pit bulls owned by their neighbor, Johnny Dale Lankford. When Saylor went to check on his wife, he was attacked as well.

My heart goes out to him. My neighborhood was terrorized by pit bulls for several years -- to the point where we carried to get the mail or mow the grass.

IMHO, the laws to control dangerous dogs need to be strengthened and enforced.

One of the main reasons I carry going to mail or trash or car. I am more concerned about getting attacked by pitbulls than a mugger.

Just... wow.
From the news clip in post # 11 ; the ripped jacket -- the strength and ferocity of those dogs.
It's possible their owner was using it to protect his 'stash'.
But whatever-- he was apparently letting them roam freely. So disgusted with this creep.

My utmost condolences to John !
Rest in eternal peace, Lorraine.

I find this incredible. You have to carry a gun to get your mail or walk to your car?
