Anthony J. Cavet

Case Classification: Endangered Missing
Missing Since: June 01, 1996 - exact date unknown
Location Last Seen: Zachary, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana
Description:
Cavet was last seen on his property in Zachary, Louisiana in early June 1996.*** He worked as a railroad bridge tender on the Intracoastal Waterway for more than thirty years and retired in the early 1980's. He never married and led a reclusive lifestyle; his mail carrier was the only person he spoke to regularly. She reported him missing when she had not seen him since early June and neither had anyone else. He has never been heard from again.
Cavet's family stated it is uncharacteristic of him to leave without warning. He was very close to his pets, which included dogs, goats, and cats. They were left unattended without food and water, and were given over to the county animal control center after Cavet was reported missing.
Cavet's beige 1985 Ford pickup (description above), which he bought three months before his disappearance, was also missing and has never been located despite a nationwide search. Records do not indicate that he sold it.
Investigators searched his 40-acre property and found no indications of foul play or signs that he died there. Few details are available regarding Cavet's disappearance and his whereabouts remain unknown.
