I would seriously love to be a police officer in the Plaquemines Parish. If they listened to the people on Websleuths, they could excavate BCJD and get some DNA samples from him again.
How do we notify them where it is? As long as we confirm it, we should try to give the Plaquemines Parish police department the whereabouts to the site.
The police will not get involved, there is no open case to investigate. You'd have to go back to thread #1 and read from there but this was a suicide and all efforts to find his family were made. Unless his family initiate a new enquiry for some reason to identify him, he will remain unknown.

I'm jumping the gun slightly but valentine's day is coming up and I'm just posting to wish our boy a better, happier valentine's day in heaven that he missed so much when he was on earth.

I personally don’t see a resemblance between Simon and BCJD, but I love a good rabbit hole, so... A quick search on Ancestry for the name George Simon in Louisiana turned up only two people. One is Black and died in 2003, and the other, the only one with the nickname “Butch”, has documented ties to Indiana. According to his mother’s obituary from 2009, he was living in Florida at the time.

I also looked up the address Simon reportedly went missing from, and the records show that the mobile home was owned by the same person from 1900 to 1979. The last name isn’t even remotely similar to Simon, and I’m still trying to determine whether there’s any real connection between the two families. But, interesting tidbit, the family has ties to Texas.

It’s possible that Simon wasn’t actually from Belle Chasse and was only staying there for some reason, and that he could be the “Butch” from Indiana?!

MOO JMO

ETA: grammar
"the mobile home was owned by the same person from 1900 to 1979"

I'm guessing this must be a typo. 1960 maybe instead of 1900? Owning a mobile home for 79 years would be extraordinary. Apart from that, though, fantastic work on chasing down this lead! Also thanks to everyone for the renewed interest in this case.

I'm also a recovering member of the Charles Wallace club.

It was not a typo. It is the default date the assessor’s page uses for the first ownership of all properties.

Yeah I unfortunately agree with you. I think it’s very unlikely he gets identified at this point unless law enforcement gets interested and his grave is found so identifiers can be pulled.

i think we should at least rule Bayard Cousins out as Belle Chase John Doe. Even if he’s not, that is ruling out an extremely strong contender. Since Louisiana’s police aren’t interested, can we contact the police in Virginia handling Bayards case instead? They might care more since this is a good lead for a missing person. This would also give them an excuse to officially find his grave and gather DNA.

People have, many, many times but investigation cannot go forward if Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Department do not want to cooperate. Virginia Beach Police are well aware of BCJD & have shown major interest & believe him to be an amazing match for Bayard. Unfortunately this is extremely complicated & we can only really hope for a miracle

That’s so frustrating. Thanks for telling me.

Do you have a link for VBP stating that, or is this your opinion?

It was on the old thread, IIRC someone submitted BCJD to VBP early on & said that the woman who replied was very enthusiastic, and i believe other people who submitted BCJD said that VBP already knew, i’ll try to find those posts again & link them

sorry if this has already been brought up (- i'm only on page 6 currently), but if the doe was CW would the sketch not feature more prominent ears? Charlie's ears were extremely prominent on his face, and would likely still poke out a significant enough amount to be of note, even though the doe had longer hair

Charles Wallace Jr. was identified by DNA and publicly named in September 2025 as being NamUs #UP5181, a partial human skeleton found in Lee County, Arkansas, on January 13, 1977. Since he was already found elsewhere, he can not be this separate unidentified body.

Tomorrow will mark 51 years of this man’s death. Valentine’s Day has been a sad day for me for years, and I was thinking about this case today while taking a break from another case.

Reading his suicide note again, what little has been published, I began wondering if maybe he was adopted. That would be why he put mom and dad in quotes, why he thanks them. Just an idea.

Belle Chasse John Doe has been unidentified for 51 years today.

Unidentified since Feb 14, 1975.....
You wanted to remain John Doe, but many of us Websleuthers think about your often!

Maybe it's too big, maybe the nose isn't the same, but I'm just going by resemblance on the sketch.

He looks similar in the photo. Especially the eyebrow line is similar. 🤔
But..."brown hair, eyes of unknown color" - in DoeNetwork.
Height is ok.
Worth reporting?

I was thinking about mismatched socks, it probably has nothing to do with it now, but here in Italy and other parts of the world we have Mismatched Socks Day, I don't know if they have it in the USA...basically it's to raise public awareness about the importance of accepting differences and promoting diversity. This day is characterized by the custom of wearing mismatched socks, or "mismatched" socks, as a sign of solidarity and support for people facing challenges related to differences. The first edition of Odd Socks Day in the United Kingdom dates back to 2013 and since 2017 it has been organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, while the first Italian edition dates back to 2014. In the Anglo-Saxon world, the event was initially launched in Australia in 2013 as part of Mental Health Week, to raise public awareness of issues related to mental health and bullying. In Italy It takes place on the first Friday of February.

This case has always been maddening. I've researched missing people from that time and never found a match. The young man writes as though he's loved by loving parents but they never looked for him?

The lack of shoes always led me to believe he was somewhat local but I've searched all states with no success. He couldn't go too far without shoes. It's also such a specific place it feels like a person who is familiar with the region.
