The family of Ciaya Whetstone says they have not received any information from police, Uber, or the hospital after their daughter was dropped off at the hospital dead two weeks ago. https://bit.ly/3IETsRB

From the presser:

Mom called Ciaya's phone Saturday morning, and the hospital answered it. They told her she needed to head to Nola immediately.

Her pupils were dilated and her face was blue.

Everything else Mom knows about what happened to her daughter, she's had to learn in the news.

LE hasn't turned over Ciaya's phone to the family.

Uber driver has not been id'ed.

We need new legislation about Uber (and other ride sharing apps) accountability.

Family demands answers following daughter’s mysterious rideshare death

Rep. Royce Duplessis, a New Orleans Democrat, said it is the driver’s job to get from point A to point B, not to be a tour guide.

“This is everybody’s worst nightmare,” he said. “And if we are encouraging young people, who may have had a drink or two, to do the smart thing and take a rideshare, then there is a burden and there is a responsibility that has to lie at the foot of the company; clear regulations, clear guidelines that create defined space between that driver and that passenger.”

Uber said in a statement they are working with law enforcement and have removed the driver’s access to the app.
