James is also listed on the JPSO website Cold Cases section. This doesn't seem to be recorded on any of the other sites for him.

"James was last seen on September 6th, 1991 in the 2000 block of Friendship Dr., Harvey, Louisiana."

I was looking at Louisiana MP pages and found this MP: James Cary Smith
http://identifyla.lsu.edu/profile.php?id=277

Height, hair color (brown) match the "new" reconstruction of Jason on the Namus page. Eyes are listed as hazel. He went missing in 1991 at age 21/22 from Jefferson Parish. Jefferson Parish is the county (parish) next to New Orleans. The parish is divided into East Bank and West Bank, separated by the Mississippi River. Harvey is on the West Bank. James was going to catch the bus to New Orleans when he disappeared. James seems to have the high broad forehead that the new Jason recon has. He also has curly/wavy hair. Jason's nose shape seems similar to James, but I am not sure how to do a side by side comparison of Jason with James in thumbnails.

Please feel free to comment on this MP either way "possible as Jason" or "no way".

What I don't understand is why the info on Jason's eye and hair color changed so dramatically from blond-brown to brown hair and from blue eyes to brown. I know the red in his hair was some sort of colorant.

I am also thinking about submitting Shawn Hale, although Shawn is listed at 6 feet tall and Jason is listed as 5'8. The resemblance between Shawn and Jason in the morphed photos is stunning, but that 5'8 is listed on Jason's NAMUS page as "measured", which I interpret as they are positive Jason was 5'8".
If it stated "estimated" for Jason, I would be more sure about submitting Shawn.

I'm not sure how accurate this is but the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office database lists his age as 38 when he went missing as opposed to 22 yo shown on the profiles linked above.

Bumping for James, now missing over 29 years

I have the impression that he encountered some foul play before taking the bus, perhaps an enemy of the university or someone who had something against him, it could be drugs, a girl, etc. It's like another of the many cases that unfortunately will never be resolved.
rest in peace

He could not have been 38 in 1991 if he was born in 1969. He was 22 as originally reported- weird.

I think someone offerred himma ride that day and he accepted. Someone he knew well enough to accept. I would guess someone else who lived nearby or passed by on their way to Uni perhaps...
