BBM.
Hi charminlane,
That car was available with a diesel engine. There's a nearly mint condition one I walk by almost every day on my way to work. If it is a diesel, it probably gets almost 20 mpg.
I would think it would be easy for LE to track that car down via DMV records,
because as chickenfried pointed out, they weren't terribly popular. I wonder why we haven't heard any more about it.
Another thought, if that car was involved in Mickey's disapearance, and I were its owner I would dispose of it very quickly. It can't be worth more than a few hundred dollars. I know Lafayette is a "city", but most residences are freestanding houses, right? It could be stashed in a garage nearby, being painted, or even disasembled and hauled away piecemeal (my buddy Greg and I did that with a pickup once, so we wouldn't have to pay to have the junkyard come and get it).
JMO

I'm in total agreement with you on that. I believe that car is sitting in a shed/garage/barn somewhere or scrapped on the way out of town.

It is still amazing to me that we haven't heard that this car owner has been found yet.

I've been thinking (uh oh)~

If that Olds gets about 8 miles to a gallon, no one is really going to go cruising for trouble in it. That gets too expensive. There was purpose behind the wheel that night.

The bike dump way out there was to get that bike out of the area super duper quickly, and probably on the first day Mickey went missing. That's a heck of a lot of gas to burn just to dump some bike as trash.

It depends on their priorities. If they have money, they may not be concerned about how much gas costs. Or if finding women is their number one concern, the cost of gas may not matter to them.

If she stayed on St. Landry, she would have been captured by a camera 20 seconds (-ish) after being caught on the one she was last seen on. According to LE, she was not seen on another camera...so either it happened very quickly off camera, LE is leaving something out, or she turned off really quickly (Brashear, or the parking lot through LCG leading to Azalea). Once on either of those streets, cameras would all be residential which isn't all that common here.
With MS on St Landry looking straight ahead, I find it VERY HARD TO THINK we would not have seen any hyperalertness in her gestures/ frame with her looking 20 secs ahead. I usually bike with my head down when I am trying to get somewhere fast and know my route. MS looks so casual at St Landry, as if 20 seconds ahead of her she sees nothing. I am of the opinion she was followed onto versailles by the white truck seen in the versailles photo turning rt onto versailles and followed past st landry to who knows where. What photos do we have of a truck going through the University ST landry intersection and possibly following MS. If there is no evidence of anyone following her there, then I think the photo of the white truck in the background on Versailles may not our PERP; that she took a left onto Brashear and some bad actor in a parking lot/ delivery area nabbed her.

Drug money. I don't believe money for gas is an obstacle.

there has to be footage of the vehicle that dumped the bike on I10. if not before the whiskey bay exit, for sure afterwards. surely they have looked at the traffic cameras of the mississippi river bridge. unless they dumped the bike then headed back West rather than East. still though, SOMEWHERE along I10, whether breaux bridge, butte la rose, grosse tette, port allen, or baton rouge, there HAS to be footage of one of those vehicles of interest. if it's not the shady car or one of the 2 trucks, then they run the plates of all the cars that they see on I10 around 230am etc.

hopefully they will get prints from her bike.
