I just saw this on The Charley Project. Supposedly she was tied to LA Gov. Edwin Edwards in an affair, one that he denied.

Governor’s mistress meets murder victim, vanishes

On May 27, 2022, Rebecca Pauline Gary, who family members say was the mistress of a Louisiana governor for fifteen years, may turn sixty-six. However, most believe someone murdered the 32-year-old college clerk the week she vanished, days before New Year’s Eve thirty-four years ago.

This is one of my "pet" cases, as I am from Louisiana. My heart goes out to Becky's family.

A few thoughts and questions come to mind that haven't been answered:

Why would Edwards keep this woman's letters if she was just a "crazed groupie" and being that he knew her since she was a teen and even met her sister, why in the world would he be defensive/rude regarding her disappearance if he wasn't guilty of something? Everyone knew the "silver zipper" "fast eddie" was a womanizer, so that's not the big problem. MOO.

Who was the alleged boyfriend she had been seeing at the time? She supposedly had been seen with bruises (by her boss), so was he jealous and violent?

Did someone actually search for the manila envelope under her mattress and in/around the apartment after her disappearance?

If she felt unsafe in Shreveport due to recent interviews she had given to authorities, she would not have been wanting to move back there, in my opinion.

Why did she send her daughter off and stay behind, especially during the holidays? How long had she planned this? According to the Unfound Podcast episode, Becky made a phone call to her family from a residence on the 27th. Whose house was this and does that person know why she stayed in Baton Rouge over the holidays, and why Becky seemingly abruptly decided to move?

Article: Remains found in Baton Rouge

According to social media posts by Becky's family, the skeletal remains were found approx. 4.3 miles from the apartment Becky was living in when she went missing. The BR coroner has confirmed they are female, and Becky's family has submitted DNA which is being tested as a potential match with the remains. Results will take several months. Hoping for closure/answers for her loved ones.
