Circumstances of Disappearance Robert White has been missing since approximately February 3-4, 1984. Robert's family states that on January 27, 1984, Robert flew from McGhee Tyson Airport (Knoxville, TN) to Memphis, TN, for a construction job. He then traveled by motor home to New Orleans, Louisiana, to check on another job. Robert called his brother on a Friday night (exact date unknown) and told him he was going back to Memphis to allow the superintendent to go home. He advised Robert never made it to Memphis. The last anyone has spoken with Robert is February 3-4, 1984, and last seen by, the superintendent. Some of Robert's family members went down to Louisiana to try to locate him. While in Louisiana, they found the motor home that Robert was supposed to be traveling in, mostly submerged in a lake near an area they described as the Hammonds/Manchac area. Family advised that the front end of the motor home was in the water, and the back bumper was stuck on a retaining wall, which was holding the motor home and keeping it from being completely submerged. He advised that during the investigation in Louisiana, a stick was found lodged between the front seat and the accelerator. Robert's boots were found in the motor home along with his briefcase, which contained contracts and money, and his firearms. Robert's family knew the boots belonged to their brother because of the way they were cut on the side. Robert would cut his boot due to the pain it would cause him because of an injury he sustained from a tow motor crushing his foot. Family believes that it was possibly his left foot that was injured and advised that Robert would drive without his boots on.
