NOPD: Missing teen from 7th Ward

According to the NOPD, Tyre Smith was last seen in the 4000 block of Duplessis Street Saturday around 9:30 p.m. Smith did not go to school Monday. Police said calls to his cell phone have gone straight to his voicemail.

Smith's death is being investigated as a homicide after a puncture wound was discovered in his neck, police said.

Investigators found Tyre Smith's body near the intersection of St. Ann Street and North Claiborne Avenue around 6 a.m. after receiving a call of a man down in the area.
