'MINDEN, La. (KSLA) - Tyrone Sumlin was shot and killed in the driveway of his home in Minden back in 2017. Police say leads in the case dried up quickly, and now, seven years later, detectives and Tyrone’s family are still trying to find answers.'
''KSLA's Steven Maxwell spoke with Tyrone’s mother, Ruthie, and one of his daughters, Kylie. He also spoke with the detective who has been working the case since day one, Lt. Shane Griffith, who has a personal connection to the case.
"I asked to be assigned the case. I promised Ms. Ruthie on the scene that day that I would help bring this person to justice. As long as I'm wearing a badge, I'm going to be working this case. It's never going to be a closed case; it's always going to be open," Lt. Griffith said.''

Lt. Griffith took over the case around that time in 2020.
"We just started from the ground up. Had very little physical evidence on the case, but I was able to interview people that had already been interviewed or re-interviewed them, went back through and was able to develop a couple of pretty viable suspects. And we do have a person of interest now in the case. We just have a few more puzzle pieces to put together," Lt. Griffith said.
The scene of the crime, Tyrone's home, sits right across the street from a park, which remains a key focus for law enforcement as they look to crack the case.''
