OMAHA, Neb. -- A Labrador retriever lived up to its name Friday when he plucked his 12-year-old owner out of the Platte River, near North Bend.

Tony Bailey can usually swim in the river, but recent rains have pushed it up higher than normal and whipped up unusual currents. When Tony jumped into the Platte on Friday, he was quickly sucked in.

Thanks for posting that. I have tears in my eyes but for the right reasons this time. They all looked so happy, mom, the boy and the dog especially. Not only was his tail wagging but his whole body was wagging.

I've always loved dogs but after getting my little Lucy, I have a new found love and respect for them. Their sole purpose here is to love and and for some, protect their families. I can't even explain how much we love our little one. :blowkiss:
