Hello, this is my first thread, so please bear with me. I've been mulling this around for a while.
Backstory: I dated a guy in 2003-2004 timeframe, and though I don't have anything to tie him directly to LISK, there are a lot of circumstantial details that border on bizarro (goes far beyond "I dated a guy in NYC with strong ties to LI/Gilgo area, had a boat, closet misogynist, ties to/interest in LE, etc). He fits the predominant profiles many sleuthers contribute, and then some. I don't want to disclose too many of those details here, because if it is him and he's lurking around getting off on these posts (yeah, I could see that...), he'd know immediately who I am.
I have a few questions about calling a tip in-- 1) what actually constitutes a legitimate tip? (ie, does circumstantial weirdness count, lol?) 2) What are the repercussions to him if it's not him? I don't want to f-- up an innocent man's life. I'm sure he's married with a family by now 3) What are the repercussions to me if, let's say, it is him? I don't exactly trust that there isn't a cover-up from LE, for whatever reason, and if I start disclosing things, I might be putting myself and my family in jeopardy.
BUT I'd hate to think I was sitting on some information that could help--if help was actually wanted--but potential of fallout scares me. And don't mean to be alarmist about it--I'm sure thousands of people have had same thoughts about people they know, too! I'm getting the sense LE is more interested in covering up than seeking public's help. Sorry, but just how I feel--if they could drop some more clues, might help a lot of people who are in same situation.
I'm sort of straddling a whole bunch of (yes, conflicting) thoughts here, and looking for some helpful feedback. Thanks in advance.
